Eu Withdrawal Agreement House Of Lords

19 Sep Eu Withdrawal Agreement House Of Lords

Legislation that will implement prime minister Boris Johnson`s negotiated withdrawal agreement with the EU will now wait for royal approval to become law. The Internal Market Act, which aims to regulate trade in the four British countries of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, will come into force on 1 January, when Britain will leave the EU`s internal market if no succession agreement is reached. Talks between Britain and the EU were halted last week, with each side calling on the other to compromise in order to reach an agreement. The EU said it was happy to continue talking, but Johnson said negotiations were over unless there was a “fundamental” shift in the bloc. He called on British companies to prepare for a no-deal economic break with the EU at the end of the year. .
